What is a Dental Bridge?

A Dental Bridge is a dental appliance used to fill a missing tooth or multiple teeth. As a non-removable device, this is considered a permanent procedure with a lifespan up to 15 years before replacement is necessary.

How is a Dental Bridge Placed?

To place a dental bridge, Dr. Parent needs two anchor teeth, the anchor teeth can be your natural teeth, crowns or implants, as a solid stable unit to place the artificial tooth. The bridge is then attached to the anchor teeth allowing you to have a false replacement tooth or multiple teeth where there was none. Mary K. Parent, DMD, will advise you if this is the best option for your particular situation.

Reasons to Consider a Dental Bridge

There are many reasons you may want to consider a Dental Bridge including:

  • We want you to restore your smile, give you the beautiful look you deserve.
  • Gaps in your teeth can affect your ability to speak or chew correctly. This may change the way you speak, or cause you to do all of your chewing on the other side of your mouth wearing those teeth down more quickly.
  • Gaps in your teeth cause damage to your mouth, there can be shifting in your teeth and the bone can atrophy due to the lack of stimulation of chewing.
  • When bone atrophy occurs, patients facial shape changes, they get an older appearance before they should!
  • If you have a removable partial denture, let us discuss with you how you can have a permanent dental bridge, giving you the freedom and feel of your natural teeth artificially.

Let us help you replace missing teeth. You will be more comfortable, confidant, and happy in your daily routine. As always, we will advise you to care for your Dental Bridge with daily oral hygiene, brushing and flossing.
